Rent vs Buy - The $4k A Month Edition!
I’ve created a new Rent vs. Buy scenario based upon median sales prices and average asking rents for 2-bedroom condos in SF. These rely upon using specific financial assumptions and projections, so are just generalities – but still useful, I believe. For the 30-year loan rate, I used 4.5%, which may or may not be applicable depending on the loan amount (and where rates go on any particular day), but should be in the general vicinity for the time being, knock on wood. You should always double check these assumptions with your accountant and mortgage provider.
